CAT WITHERSPOON

Catherine Witherspoon works as a Communications Coordinator for the International Association of National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI). Through impactful storytelling, innovation and creativity, Catherine is responsible for bringing attention to the work that IANPHI's members do to improve the health and lives of the international communities they serve.

Her passion for non-profit international work led her to CARE, the Atlanta-based humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. There she served as an Internal/External Communications Intern in the Office of the President. She has interned with the Atlanta Daily World as an Entertainment Reporter, as a General Assignment Intern with KABC in Los Angeles and as a D.C. Reporter for two stations in Louisiana—KTVE & KARD in Monroe and KTAL in Shreveport.

Cat joined COIA as its communications chair in 2017 after volunteering at two events. She saw the impact COIA was having on the community and knew this was an organization she wanted to be part of.

She earned her undergraduate degree in liberal studies from Mercer University and her master’s in broadcast and digital journalism from Syracuse University. Catherine enjoys spending time with her friends, family and her cat Oscar. Her favorite quote comes from the book The Alchemist, “When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too.”
